The Cleveland Foundation presents The Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards 2020, which recognizes outstanding works that contribute to a collective understanding of racism and human diversity. Now in its 84th year, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards continues to be the only American book award designed specifically to recognize works addressing issues of racism and diversity.

Eligibility:

  1. Fiction, poetry and nonfiction books.
  2. Books must be written in English and published and copyrighted in 2019.
  3. Only hard copies accepted.
  4. The following are NOT eligible for consideration:
    • Plays.
    • Screenplays.
    • Works in progress.
    • Manuscripts.
    • Print-on-demand.
    • Electronically published or e-books.
    • Self-published works.

Note that: All submitted materials become the property of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards and will not be returned.

Awards:

  1. Award recipients traditionally receive $10,000 from the Anisfield-Wolf fund.
  2. Anisfield-Wolf winners receive their prize at a ceremony in Cleveland in September.
