Opportunity description

The Project on Middle East Political Science POMEPS is pleased to invite proposals for papers on the politics of the contemporary Middle East for its eleventh annual conference at The George Washington University on May 21-22, 2020. The conference will include workshop sessions on each accepted paper, with each paper read by multiple senior scholars in the field with an eye towards preparing them for submission for publication.

Conditions:-

  1. Applications are open to scholars in political science or cognate fields at any career stage from ABD onward (please note this means PhD candidates who have completed all coursework).
  2. Authors must commit to delivering their full paper to discussants by April 21, 2020.

Submissions Specifications:-

  1. Papers should be article-length (6,000-10,000 words) written for publication in peer-reviewed journals in political science or cognate disciplines. 
  2. Articles that have been previously submitted to journals and either rejected or sent back for revisions are also accepted.

Benefits:-

POMEPS will cover all travel and lodging expenses for the conference.

About POMEPS:-

POMEPS is a collaborative network designed to enhance the broader Middle East’s political science field and its engagement with the broader academic discipline, public policy, and the public sphere. POMEPS seeks to shape innovative new approaches to the political science of the region, support the field’s publication in leading academic journals, and ultimately build the number of tenured political scientists specializing on the Middle East. It also aims to increase their contribution to the public foreign policy debate and to the policy-making process, in order to allow their expertise to have more of an impact on vital decisions about the Middle East.
