The African Leadership Academy (ALA) offers a two-year diploma <a href="https://www.for9a.com/opportunity/category/scholarships/Scholarships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">scholarship</a> to high school students before their enrolling in the university. The two-year pre-university Diploma Program at ALA fosters a tight-knit, pan-African community and empowers each student with the skills and mindsets required for transformative leadership. The curriculum goes well beyond academic theory and examined content, it aims to foster critical inquiry, entrepreneurial leadership, and cross-cultural competence.<h3>Curriculum:</h3>The academic program at ALA combines an international faculty and unique instructional methods to create a strong student-centered learning experience. Core courses of Entrepreneurial Leadership, African Studies, and Writing and Rhetoric empowers young leaders with the knowledge and skills required for complex problem-solving; in addition, students may select from a set of externally and internally designed courses in the Humanities, Sciences, Languages, and Creative Arts. Externally designed programs include a variety of Cambridge Advanced International Examination (CAIE) AS and A-Level courses. <ul><li>SAT Tutoring: Students at the Academy have access to a tutoring program at the Academy in preparation for the SAT exams, which are also written at ALA three times each year</li><li>University Guidance: Every student has access to in-house university guidance and support in submitting applications to universities across the world.</li><li>Guest Speaker Program: The Academy offers a robust guest speaker program, creating platforms for students to learn from leading experts in Academy-wide Distinguished Guest Speaker series and thematic Executive Seminars.</li><li>External Opportunities: Students are afforded the opportunity to participate in a range of conferences, symposiums, and competitions in several countries across the world each year.</li></ul><h3>Funding:</h3>The all-inclusive cost of $30,900 per annum to attend ALA includes:<ul><li>All-inclusive for fees for a full year covering tuition, accommodation, sports, activities, meals, and uniforms.</li><li>Full access to ALA’s campus facilities including entertainment areas, sports fields, high-speed fiber internet, biometric security control.</li><li>There are proactive health and wellness care, including private medical insurance for every student.</li><li>The Explore Johannesburg program, which gets students out and about in our world-class African city, attending cultural and entertainment events.</li><li>Exclusive access to the Africa Careers Network, a team at ALA dedicated to finding and securing employment for ALA graduates across the continent with top employers.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Applicants to the Academy must be between the ages of 15-18 and must have completed a minimum of Grade 10 or its equivalent in their home country.</li><li>Leadership Potential: At African Leadership Academy they seek young leaders with the potential to transform Africa and the world. They encourage students to share the activities in which they participate and the leadership roles they assume at home, in school, or in community, and they hope students will think critically about what “leadership” means to them.</li><li>Entrepreneurial Spirit: Entrepreneurs identify needs in the world around them and take action to alleviate those needs. They start businesses, health clinics, youth organizations, and social movements. They bring new products and ideas to the world. Their efforts create value and improve their lives. The academy encourages students to celebrate their entrepreneurial spirit and share their entrepreneurial ideas with the academy.</li><li>Passion for Africa: Do you have an African dream? We hope you will share with us how you plan to give back to your community and the world.</li><li>Academic Achievement: selection committee will closely review scores from national examinations and the marks and comments on each applicant’s school reports.
