Opportunity description
In cooperation with UNESCO Amman and with the support of Canada and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, free and paid workshops will be held to learn to draw cartoon and learn how to raise human rights and tolerance issues through caricatures with cartoonist and trainer Omar Adnan Al Abdallat. Five workshops will be held in five governorates (Irbid, Al-Mafraq, Ma'an, Zarqa'a, Amman) from 11 a.m. to 4 P.m. as follows:
- Irbid: 14 September 2019, Saturday.
- Al-Mafraq: 21 September 2019, Saturday.
- Ma'an: 28 September 2019, Saturday.
- Zarqa'a: 5 October 2019, Saturday.
- Amman: 12 October 2019, Saturday.
The Workshop Themes:
- The origins of caricatures art and its origins and history
- Training to draw caricatures cynically
- Addressing and drawing topics such as the exploitation of the position and patronage
- Put forward the idea of leadership and contribute to the development of society
- Ask participants to put forward ideas for initiatives related to debates and awareness in the field of human rights
- During the workshop, the artist will share his personal experience with the participants and respond to any queries from them
Selection Criteria:
- The applicant should be 15 to 30 years old.
- Anyone who wants to learn to draw cartoons and raise humanitarian and social issues through the caricature; the topics that will be addressed in the caricatures produced in the workshop: debate and respecting the other opinion, human rights, freedom of expression.
- Participation for those who have the gift of drawing or drawing caricature hobby or the desire to learn and know the basics.
- The participant must be committed to attend the workshop and adhere to the time limit.
- The training workshops are free.
- Upon the completion of the training workshops, the best 15 drawings will be selected and displayed in a caricature exhibition during the closing ceremony of the training program.
- Participants are responsible for the authenticity of their works, and the works participating in the exhibition will be used by the organizers.
- A technical committee will determine the best and most suitable to participate in the training since the number of participants is limited, so please accept apologies to those who are not lucky to participate.
