Opportunity description

The CrossCulture Programme CCP Fellowships is now available for applicants from Iraq. During the fellowship period, participants deepen their expertise and acquire intercultural skills. The participants then bring their experiences gained abroad into their everyday working life when they return to their homes.

Available Fields:

  1. Politics & society.
  2. Human rights & peacebuilding.
  3. Sustainable development.
  4. Media & culture.
  5. Civic & citizenship education.
  6. Digital civil society.

Essential Requirements:

  1. The applicant must be between the ages of 23 and 45 at the time of the application.
  2. Good written and spoken English skills.
  3. At least two years of proven professional experience or volunteer work in a civil society organization in the country of origin.
  4. The applicant is in good health for a longer stay abroad.

Desirable Requirements:

  1. The applicant has been and is socially engaged for the long-term in Iraq.
  2. The applicant can prove full-time experience in his or her field of work.
  3. A collaboration with an organization in the target country is in progress or planned.
  4. The applicant possesses other language skills, particularly, German language skills.

Benefits:

  1.  A monthly allowance of 550 euros.
  2. Roundtrip airfare.
  3. Accommodation.
  4. A monthly ticket for public transport within the place of residence.
  5. A refund of applicable visa fees.
  6. Health insurance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Communication and consultation with the program team as well as the respective host organization.
  2. Submission of a final report.
  3. Participation, as appropriate, in accompanying events (workshops, training, etc.).

Conditions:

  1. Securing leave of absence from the employer.
  2. Preparation for the application for a short stay visa (Schengen visa).
  3. Assessment of potential risks and impacts on their own work and that of others in the country of residence (due to the participation in the program).

Selection Procedure:

  1. The selection of suitable candidates will be accomplished by" ifa" in consultation with the German Foreign Mission in Baghdad.
  2. Selected candidates will be invited for a personal interview at the German Foreign Mission or via Skype in December 2019/January 2020.
  3. The final selection of CrossCulture fellowship holders will be accomplished in cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office. The results will be communicated until February 2020.
