<p>The American University in Cairo (AUC) is offering a number of international <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Fellowships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>fellowships</strong></a> under the Ryoichi Sasakawa Endowed Young Leaders Fellowships Fund (SYLFF). SYLFF program offers <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>scholarships</strong></a> in 69 universities worldwide for outstanding graduate students in various disciplines.</p><h3>Available Programs:</h3><ul><li>Arabic and Islamic Civilizations (specialization in Arabic Language and Literature, Middle Eastern History, Islamic Art and Architecture, and Islamic Studies).</li><li>Economics, Economics in International Development.</li><li>English and Comparative Literature.</li><li>Gender and Women's Studies.</li><li>Global Affairs.</li><li>International Human Rights Law.</li><li>International and Comparative Education.</li><li>Journalism and Mass Communication.</li><li>Middle East Studies.</li><li>Migration and Refugee Studies.</li><li>Political Science.</li><li>Sociology and Anthropology.</li></ul><h3>Duration:</h3><p>Two academic years and the intervening summer session, with a review every semester for satisfactory academic performance.</p><h3>Fellows Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>Maintain the status of a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.2</li><li>Respond to any reporting requests received from AUC by the deadline communicated. This may include a request for photos or academic progress information to be used for reporting purposes; attendance of fellowship events including any meetings/events as requested by the relevant university entities.</li><li>Awarded fellows will be assigned a number of hours to work with the Office of Graduate Students Services and Fellowships.&nbsp;</li><li>Fellows are expected to apply for conference and thesis research grants, participate in <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Internships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>internships</strong></a>, social service organizations, and regional and international conferences.</li></ul><p><br></p>

<p>The fellowship covers:</p><ul><li>Tuition fees, for a maximum of nine credits per semester.</li><li>Student services and activities fees.</li><li>Medical service and health insurance fees (for international students).</li><li>May cover <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Events-Festivals-and-Conferences" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">conference</a> or thesis research support grants for eligible fellows.</li><li>Fellows are expected to participate in various activities, including the annual Sasakawa Symposium.</li></ul><p><br></p>

<ul><li>Open to all nationalities.</li><li>For new graduate degree-seeking students; satisfy AUC graduate admissions requirements.</li><li>Full admission into one of AUC’s <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/Master" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">MA programs</a> in the Humanities and Social Sciences.</li><li><a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/Bachelor" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bachelor degree</a> with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.</li><li>For continuing students; to retain the fellowship, the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2&nbsp;</li><li>History of active participation in extracurricular activities and public service.</li><li>Both new and continuing graduate students may apply but preference is given to those who require four semesters to complete their degree</li><li>Financial need.</li></ul><h3>About the American University in Cairo:</h3><p>Founded in 1919, the American University in Cairo is a leading English-language, American-accredited institution of higher education and center of the intellectual, social and cultural life of the Arab world.
