Fully Funded Leadership Training from TechGirls for Female Students in the US

TechGirls invites young girls to apply for 8 months of leadership training and join an alumni network of TechWomen and TechGirls that will support them as they plan their higher education, careers, and community-based projects. Your U.S. program begins with group international travel with your fellow participants from your country with a flight escort. Meeting all the other young women selected from across your region is the first inspiring element to the program. Legacy International staff provides 24-hour supervision and a safe and secure environment.

During the program, each leader develops an action plan to transfer skills and knowledge back home. Projects have included – starting a Tech Club at school, offering training to classmates, helping local businesses by designing a website, creating an online dialogue forum with friends, blogging, organizing tech career fairs at their school.

Tasks:

TechGirls will:

1. Challenge themselves with new questions and concepts
2. Learn coding and tech skills from enthusiastic university professors
3. Network with influential industry leaders
4. Discover their own innovative leadership style
5. Create meaningful friendships with young women from all over the MENA region and the USA
6. Explore the diverse communities of Washington, D.C. and southwest Virginia
7. Inspire the next generation of women and girls in their home countries

The TechGirls program covers the following costs:

1. Roundtrip international airfare from participant home country to the United States
2. Housing during the program: Double occupancy hotel or dormitory accommodations
3. Meals during the program: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
4. Local transportation to group program events
5. Cultural events organized by Legacy International
6. Emergency health insurance

1. This program is for girls between the ages of 15 and 17 years of age. If you are less than 15 years of age or over 17 years of age on June 1, 2022, please do not apply for this program as you will be deemed ineligible.
2. Applicants must have at least one additional semester of secondary school remaining in Fall 2022.

About TechGirls :

TechGirls is an international summer exchange program designed to empower and inspire young girls from Central Asia and the Middle East and North Africa to pursue careers in science and technology. The centerpiece of the program is a weeklong technology camp that provides participants with an in-depth examination of technology-related topics, such as coding and cyber security and engages them in 45+ hours of hands-on instruction. The camp is complemented by additional activities such as site visits to technology companies, leadership clinics, community service opportunities, job shadowing, and cultural events.
