Opportunity description

Loyola Marymount University in the US is offering 2021 First-Year Scholarships for international undergraduate students. International students are eligible for merit-based scholarships based on their academic achievement and test scores.

Scholarship Amount:

Scholarship amounts vary between $2,000 to full tuition/room and board each year. No need-based financial aid is available for international students.

Application Requirements:

  • Official Test Scores:

International students are not required to submit the SAT or ACT to complete their application to LMU. Strong candidates for admission who do not provide these scores will provide alternate assessments of their academic abilities such as International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, A levels, or rigorous national examinations. SAT Subject tests are not required as part of the LMU application requirements and are therefore not required.

  • Proof of English Proficiency:

Applicants should request their official proof of English proficiency results to be submitted directly to the Office of Admission.  Students who study select curricula such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program or A-Level examinations are not required to submit English proficiency results.  LMU only requires one of the following tests:

  1. TOEFL: Non-native English speakers must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) given by the Educational Testing Service and arrange for scores to be sent to the Office of Admission. (LMU’s TOEFL Institution code is 4403) The University’s minimum standard for undergraduate admission is 90 for the Internet-based TOEFL (the equivalent score of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL).
  2. IELTS: As an alternative to taking the TOEFL, non-native English speakers may also take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The University’s minimum standard for undergraduate admission is 6.5.
  3. Duolingo English Test: Non-native English speakers may also take the Duolingo English Test. The University’s minimum standard for undergraduate admission is 105.
  4. PTE: Non-native English speakers may also take the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE).  The University’s minimum standard for undergraduate admission is 53.
  • Transcripts:

Applicants should submit their transcripts in English from all secondary schools/high schools attended. Full transcripts from each individual school year must be provided.

  1. Submit official transcripts showing all work in detail. If you have completed any courses at the college or university level, please see the university's international transfer student requirements.
  2. LMU may grant advanced standing for certain foreign examinations and diplomas;
  3. Obtain certified English translations of all documents not presented in English.
  4. All documents submitted for admission become the property of the University and will not be returned.
  • A letter of recommendation:

This letter should be from an official at the last school the applicant has attended or are currently attending, preferably his counselor, a teacher, his principal, or another administrator.
