Opportunity description

The Hertog Foundation offers fellowships and summer courses to undergraduate and recent graduates (2019 and 2020) in a wide variety of subjects, from political philosophy to contemporary public affairs, from economics to foreign policy.

Fellowship Details:

The fellowship lasts seven weeks. It is designed to reflect Hertog's broad curriculum. Thirty-six students will be selected to participate. A stipend of $ 2,000 will be offered and housing.

Course Details:

These courses provide the flexibility for students who want to deepen their experience and have other commitments during the summer, with each course lasting from one to two weeks. Up to 140 students will be selected to participate. A stipend of $500 to $1,000 will be offered and housing.

Selection Criteria:

A typical competitive applicant meets the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate GPA > 3.5
  • Strong letter(s) of recommendation from a professor or another individual who is in a position to comment on the applicant’s academic or professional qualifications.
  • A statement of purpose that tells us how the applicant’s interests and ambitions relate to the preferred program. The statement of purpose is very important and deserves careful attention.
  • An academic writing sample that demonstrates the applicant’s powers of analysis and independent thought, and not only their ability to do scholarly research or comment on a text.
