Opportunity description

The Eric Hosking Trust is offering a grantof £ 750 to suitable candidates from around the world undertaking projects in the field of natural history and ornithological through writing, photography, painting, or illustration.

Scholarship Terms:

The applicant should be in need of financial assistance, in order to pursue projects on Birds and other Natural History subjects, which are of scientific and conservation value, through the media of writing, photography, painting, or illustration.
Only one application per person/organization per year will be accepted.
Applicants are requested to specify other sources of their funding and define what area of the project that the award would be spent on.
Successful applicants will be asked to acknowledge the Eric Hosking Charitable Trust wherever possible and provide a copy of any written report to the Trust and a copy of any published results.
In the event of a project being canceled after an Eric Hosking Charitable Trust bursary has been awarded, all funding received must be repaid.

Grant Value:

The successful candidate will be awarded bursaries of up to £750 per year.

About Eric Hosking:

The Trust was launched at a major retrospective exhibition of Eric Hosking’s vintage prints at The Wildlife Art Gallery in Lavenham, Suffolk, on 24 April 1993. Eric Hosking (1909 –1991), was widely acknowledged as one of the world’s most eminent natural history photographers. His work was admired, published, and exhibited in countries around the continents of the world. Hosking loved London and, although he traveled greatly in Britain and abroad, he never moved away from his north London home, where he developed his natural history photographic business. The superb quality of his images, his meticulous care for his subjects, and his boundless enthusiasm inspired three generations of young naturalists and photographers to follow in his footsteps.
