Opportunity description
The Hult Prize Foundation invites students from all over the world to participate in the 2020 annual competition. This year’s competition is titled “Building Startups That Have A Positive Impact on Our Planet with Every Dollar Earned”. Operating on more than 1500 college and university campuses in 121 countries with a global team of more than 30,000 staff, student volunteers, and changemakers the Hult Prize continues to be a disruptive global leader in education, soft skills training, and entrepreneurial development for the 21st century.
How does the Hult Prize work?
There are multiple programs and multiple rounds of competition that can further be explored in our Programs Section at the top. Your goal is to make it to the Global Accelerator, to work, learn, and play as you develop your game-changing enterprise. The top 50 companies from around the world advance here, a step before Finals. From there, six companies are selected to pitch for USD1,000,000.
There are funding and mentorship throughout. There are two ways to become part of the top 50:
- Win a Regional Summit Final
- Win a Wildcard Round.
There are two ways into a Regional Summit, either you win an On-Campus Hult Prize which may or may not be happening at your university, or you submit into the general application window. Regional Summit cities are always changing; for our 2020 cycle, the cities will be announced soon so stay tuned! Once the top 50 are selected, they come to the world’s biggest incubator for social enterprise, and from there, our team and network of over 25,000 coaches, advisors, and mentors work to make your idea real. After 5-weeks a final six are selected to pitch at Finals & Awards Gala.

About Hult Prize:
The Hult Prize is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from MBA and college students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy, and education. It was founded by Ahmad Ashkar and is funded by Bertil Hult, the latter of whom, along with his family – founders of EF Education First – donates US$1 million in seed capital to help the winning team launch a social enterprise. The Prize is a partnership between Hult International Business School and the United Nations Foundation. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton selects the challenge topic and announces the winner each September; he mentioned it in a 2012 Time article about "the top 5 ideas that are changing the world for the better". The Hult Prize has been referred to as the "Nobel Prize for students" by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
