Opportunity description
The United Nations ,in cooperation with the French Institute For Research In Africa, is offering an online volunteer opportunity in Proof-reading/rewriting of academic articles FR/EN or EN/FR.
Background and Objectives:-
The text that will be sent for verifying the translation, proof-reading and rewriting is part of an academic journal (or sometimes edited volumes) about East Africa that will be published shortly afterwards; more generally, it is aimed at giving more visibility to the results of academic research and better diffuse it to the communities concerned.
Requirements:-
Fluent in English and French, with at least one of these two languages as the mother tongue.
Previous translation experiences are expected, and knowledge of the (East) African context is desirable though not mandatory.
Tasks:-
The volunteer will be asked to verify an original academic or a translation (French to English, or English to French) and proofread, correct, and rewrite whenever needed.
The volunteer will need to know the language used in the original text and the language of the translation, to check if the meaning has been well maintained.
The volunteer will do so after activating the "fast-track changes" option so that all the changes made are visible.
Conditions:-
- By registering, you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV.
- You could check the
Terms of Use for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform. - You will need to work 6-10 hours per week for 3 weeks.
- This opportunity requires 5 volunteers.
