Opportunity description
Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for applicants residing abroad is for overseas students scheduled to enroll in a Japanese university/graduate school. All Rotary International District in Japan is now open for 2019 enrollment. The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Applicants Residing Abroad, or “Overseas Application Scholarship”, is carried out as a special program to support overseas students in the most-difficult first years of their enrollment in Japanese universities and graduate schools. This system provides both financial and personal support (through counseling offered by Rotary members) to the awardees upon their arrival in Japan.
Scholarship Amount:
- Undergraduates:100,000 yen per month.
- Master’s students: 140,000 yen per month.
- Doctoral students: 140,000 yen per month.
- A single one-way-airfare-to-Japan is reimbursed at orientation, after arrival in Japan
Notes:
- Research students are not eligible.
- This scholarship is not full-covered, so tuition and enroll fee can NOT be paid by us.
- The application guideline is judged based on the one written in Japanese.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must not be citizens of Japan nor residing in Japan.
- Applicants must obtain a Letter of Success or Permission for Pre-arrival Admission in Japanese University or Graduate School.
- All applicants are expected to have an enthusiasm for study and clear-cut future goal, an awareness and respect for cultural differences, the ability to express oneself fluently and to communicate smoothly, and both mental and physical health in good condition.
- All fields of study are eligible.
- Scholars are expected to have the ability to understand basic Japanese ( JPLT N4 level).
- Applicant must be born after April 1st, 1979.
Application Documents:
- Application (prescribed form with photograph).
- Copy of application for admission for the university/graduate school.
- Research plan (prescribed form), only required for those planning to enter graduate school.
- An essay titled "The purpose of studying in Japan" (prescribed form).
- Letter of recommendation from one of the following (undergraduate):
- A recent school in your country.
- A recent job place in your country.
- A targeted university in Japan.
- Letter of recommendation from one of the following (graduate):
- A prospect supervisor/professor at the applicant's intended graduate school in Japan.
- A supervisor/professor in a recent university in the applicant's country.
- A recent job place in the applicant's country.
- Copy of Letter of Acceptance, Letter of Success, Pre-arrival Admission Approval Certificate.
- Document certifying Japanese language proficiency.
