<p>Merck Foundation launches its annual <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Competitions-and-Awards" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>awards</strong></a> for 2019. These awards seek medical students in African and Asian universities. Two awards are offered; Merck award for diabetes with the theme of: &ldquo;Every Day is a Diabetes Day&rdquo;, and Merck award for hypertension with the theme of: &ldquo;What the Healthy Heart needs.&rdquo; Merck Diabetes and hypertension Awards are part of its commitment to building diabetes capacity and improving access to quality and sustainable healthcare solutions in developing countries. The aim of Merck Awards is to create a Diabetes and a Hypertension Experts Platform across the globe.</p><h3>Eligibility Criteria:</h3><p>All medical (MBBS/MBChB) final year students, interns, and postgraduates are invited to apply for the Awards.</p><h3>Prize:</h3><p>Merck Diabetes Award 2019 is enrollment to a 1 year Online: &ldquo;Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetes Management with the University of South Wales&quot;. Merck Hypertension Award 2019 is enrollment to a 1 year Online: &ldquo;Post Graduate Diploma in Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine with University of South Wales&rdquo;.</p><h3>Application Procedure:</h3><p>The applicant will be asked to send a cover letter and 1- one-page concept paper about:</p><ul><li>How to improve awareness about Diabetes in your country.</li><li>How to encourage your society, scientific community, local authorities, media and relevant stakeholders to Think and Act on Diabetes Every Day&nbsp;</li><li>Your ideas for developing new policies, strategies, social media campaigns and more</li><li>Be creative and think out of the box!</li></ul><h3>About Merck Foundation:</h3><p>The Merck is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the health and well being of people and advance their lives through science and technology.
