The University of Queensland in Australia offers Barbara Hebden undergraduate scholarship in Music for International students.
About the Scholarship:
Barbara Jean Hebden OAM (1931–2015) was an alumna of UQ (BA 1952) and a prominent music critic. She was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1999 "for service to the promotion of music and the performing arts in Queensland". The bursary was established in 2016 by an endowed bequest from her estate. The Barbara Hebden Music Bursary is to support a student enrolling in the first year of the Bachelor of Music (Honours) program. It is awarded to the Bachelor of Music (Honours) applicant showing greatest merit in an audition, with preference given to applicants who audition on instruments identified as priorities for recruitment for that year.
Eligibility Criteria:
An applicant is eligible for the scholarship if the applicant:
- Submits an application to audition for the Bachelor of Music (Honours) program to the Head, by the closing date for applications.
- Is or intends to be enrolled full-time in the first year of the program.
Selection Process:
The scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing greatest merit in the audition.
Funding:
One scholarship will be awarded in a year on the recommendation of the Head that the value of the scholarship is $7,000
