University of British Columbia (UBC) invites <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/Bachelor" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">undergraduate&nbsp;</a>students from all over the world to apply for <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">scholarships</a> for 2019-2020 in <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/country/Canada" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Canada</a>. As soon as you receive an offer of admission to UBC, you&rsquo;ll automatically be considered for these merit-based awards. Consideration is based on your demonstrated academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.<h3>Eligibility Criteria:</h3><ol><li>International Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES) are awarded to exceptional international students entering undergraduate programs at UBC.&nbsp;</li><li>Students receive their IMES when they enter their first year at UBC, and the scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years of study.&nbsp;</li><li>The number and level of these scholarships awarded each year vary, depending on available&nbsp;funding.</li><li>The Outstanding International Student (OIS) Award is a one-time, merit-based entrance scholarship awarded to qualified students when they are offered admission to UBC.&nbsp;</li><li>Students selected for this award show strength academically and display involvement outside of the classroom.&nbsp;</li><li>You must be new to UBC, entering directly from&nbsp;secondary school or post-secondary (university or college).</li><li>You must be an international student who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa).&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstration of exceptional academic achievement and intellectual promise, as well as impressive extracurricular and&nbsp;community involvement.</li><li>Not being nominated for&nbsp;a need-and-merit-based&nbsp;International Scholars award.</li><li>Apply to UBC by&nbsp;January 15.</li><li>English is the language of instruction at UBC. All prospective students must demonstrate English-language competency prior to admission.</li><li>You will be considered for this scholarship shortly after you receive an offer of admission to UBC.&nbsp;Scholarship decisions are made between mid-March to the end of April each year.</li><li>Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior secondary school: General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi). Certificates must be official. Photocopies are acceptable if certified by the school principal, head, or counselor. Notarized copies are not acceptable.</li></ol><h3>Scholarship Amount:</h3>UBC recognizes the academic achievement of outstanding international students by devoting more than $20 million annually to awards, scholarships, and other forms of financial support for international undergraduate students.
