Volunteer Online with UN: Design and Write Proposal for Girls Initiatives

UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, as Girls Education Mission International is seeking 2 passionate volunteers that will help sustain the organization projects, expand our operations, and make our goal possible, through design and write proposal for girls initiatives.

Girls Education Mission International is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization based in Jos Plateau state Nigeria. The organization has a Consultative Status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a status that reflect a strong interest in contributing to work of the United Nations and the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development. To ensure access to quality education for all children including the girl child, GEM seek to generate funds to provide programs that works to support girls in developing their own unique talent while also providing hem they opportunity to real full human potential.

Volunteer duration and working hours:

11-20 hours per week for 12 weeks.

Eligibility criteria:

1. Interested volunteers must have key knowledge in Education, human rights, with good ability to engage in research and good writing skills.
2. Volunteer must have experience in grant proposal writing.
3. Experience with a particular donor is an added advantage. 
4. Knowledge on project design and management is an asset. 
5. The Volunteer should be willing for frequent communication with project director through Email, Skype, Google meet and WhatsApp. 
6. Ability to communicate in English.

Volunteer task:

1. With their knowledge and skills of identifying potential donors, volunteers will work closely with the Executive Director of GEM in the designing and writing of the project proposals.
2. Projects will focus on Promoting Girls Education (establishment of girls’ clubs, mentoring programs, scholarship and Menstrual Hygiene Management, STEM Education)
3. We request volunteer have knowledge in Gender Violence, Human Rights, project design and management.
4. GEM will provide background information needed to write the grant proposal.
5. The volunteer will not submit the funding request on behalf of our organization.
6. GEM will be responsible for submitting finishing proposals to donor organizations. Communication will be done through email and social media.
7. Special mentions, recognitions and a certificate of appreciation will be issued to the volunteer.
