UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, to join UNDP that is seeking one qualified volunteer, as it is currently developing a database of country programmes and projects on DDR and SPRR.
The UNDP Crisis Bureau (CB), through Rule of Law, Security and Human Rights (RoLSHR), is working towards the implementation of this Strategic Plan outcome and output, by specifically supporting the reintegration of ex-combatants through the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) of members of armed forces and groups and prosecution, rehabilitation and reintegration (PRR) of members of armed groups designated as terrorist organizations. The CB/RoLSHR provides both technical support to regional and country programmes where reintegration of ex-combatants/fighters, associated groups and their families is required both in the context of peacebuilding and/or stabilization initiatives. The online volunteer shall assist the Crisis Bureau, Rule of Law Security and Human Rights Team at UNDP in developing a database of DDR and PRR programs and projects. S/he shall conduct extensive desk research and compile analysis and key information.
Volunteer duration and working hours:
11-20 hours per week for 8 weeks.
Eligibility criteria:
- Master’s degree in development studies, international relations, political science, law/transitional justice and relevant the social sciences;
- 2-5 years of work experience conducting policy analysis and managing partnerships in security-related areas within rule of law and human rights principles and from a development perspective.
- Familiarity with the United Nations and other international organizations is a plus.
- Ability to communicate in English.
Volunteer task:
The final product of this Consultancy shall be a mapped tool/matrix with key components consolidating information on DDR programmes and projects.
