UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, as Africa Youth for Peace and Development is looking for two qualified volunteers to help in research funding opportunities for field hockey project
In order to promote peace through sport, AYPAD’s Hockey club works to support youths in developing their own unique talents while also providing a context outside formal institutions where youth can come together to better understand each other. AYPAD also seeks to generate funds through the Hockey club so that each member of the team can attend school and have their housing and food needs met. Currently, less than half are able to attend school and many are in need of regular shelter.
Volunteer duration and working hours:
6-10 hours per week for overall 12 week.
Eligibility criteria:
- Key Knowledge in Field Hockey
- Good ability to engage in Research
- Good Writing skills
- Ability to communicate in English.
Volunteer task:
- After the decade-long war in Sierra Leone, many youths were left without housing, education, and employment, leaving them with little opportunity but to live on the streets and engage in criminal activities. As a result of consulting youths in Freetown, AYPAD developed a Hockey program to engage these youth, many who live on the streets.
- AYPAD Organization request two volunteers that will help us research funding opportunities that will help sustain the project and expand the new operations in other 4 other African Countries.
- The organization is working to use Hockey as a tool to promote peace and sustainable development. We request the volunteer to have knowledge in Field Hockey. The volunteers will not submit the funding request on behalf of our organization.
