Volunteer Online with UN: Website Redesign Using WordPress

UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, as OuagaNet is looking for 5 qualified volunteers with expertise with designing and developing websites in WordPress to help us create a captivating website that fully display our charitable activities in Burkina Faso.

The website is essential to showcase to our sponsors and visitors what OUAGANET is doing to empower poor women with goats to raise in Burkina Faso. It is the main tool of communication that our organization must showcase what we do: helping women, protecting the environment by planting Moringa trees, supporting the youth with educational supplies and providing clean water by creating wells. The objective of the site is to communicate our needs, accomplishments and challenges to sponsors and visitors with content that is compelling. The website is the most important communication tool that we use to inform the public of what we are doing to fight poverty in Burkina Faso (W. Africa). 

Volunteer duration and working hours:

6-10 hours per week for 6 weeks.

Eligibility criteria:

• Candidates should have expertise in developing WordPress sites, be very skilled with design, have knowledge of CSS and above all a keen interest in using his technical skills to create an outstanding website. 
• Ability to communicate in English.

Volunteer task:

1. The task will involve customizing the theme, installing some plugins (social media, video) as well as designing the frontend.
2. For the customization, you will reorganize the content on the site and ensure that the most recent content is displayed prominently on frontpage.
3. All projects files will be stored on a Dropbox account which you will have access to.
4. All the project correspondence will be via e-mail, skype or WhatsApp based on your preference. We will be flexible to accommodate your time availability.
5. Status update will be twice weekly in order to ensure that the project is on track. We will coordinate work with the graphic designer and the video editor to ensure that the project files (graphics, and videos) are available for the project.
