Opportunity description

Culture And Arts Programme at AM Qattan Foundation announces the call for applications for the 2019 Young Writer Award in each of the following literary categories:

  1. Novel.
  2. Short story (a collection of stories between 75-120 pages of medium sized papers).
  3. Poetry (between 75 to 120 pages of medium sized papers).

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Age ranged between 22 and 35 years (between 1/1/1984 and 31/12/1996)
  2. Winners have no problem to publish their work, and works which are recommended by the jury.
  3. The participant must be Palestinian regardless of the residency, also the literary work must be in Arabic and not previously published.
  4. Young writers from the occupied Syrian Golan can participate in this competition.

Selection criteria:

  1. The literary work should be in Arabic and not published previously (papers or electronically).
  2. Work should be completed and can be published in the form of an independent book.
  3. Works must be printed on the both sides of the page, using type of font (Simplified Arabic) with font size 14.
  4. The name of the participant must be written on the cover page only .
  5. Works must contain a title, even if it was temporarily, and must be written on the cover page and the following page only .

Prize:

$4,000 for each category of the competition.

Note: Those who have already won the first prize in the Young Writer Award in any category of the competition can not apply to the same literary category in which they won the prize.
