Opportunity description
The first Arab award dedicated to scientific research, celebrating Arab researchers, was launched by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation—the Arab Bank’s arm for social responsibility—in 1982. The award strives to support and promote scientific research in the Arab world and to contribute to preparing and inspiring a new generation of scientists, experts, and specialists across various Arab fields.
The award is granted in recognition of outstanding scientific output that contributes to its dissemination and wider circulation, enhances scientific and applied knowledge, and helps address problems at the local, regional, and global levels, while also promoting a culture of scientific research.
The award is presented across six fields, as determined by the award’s scientific committee, with two themes falling under each field of research.

Eligibility criteria
The applicant must be of Arab nationality.
The research must have been conducted in an Arab country and actively collaborated with an Arab researcher.
Submissions are accepted only in Arabic or English.
The applicant’s master’s and doctoral theses are not included in the evaluation of scientific output.
