The Marrakech International Film Festival has opened applications for the ninth edition of the Atlas Workshops, a professional initiative designed to support Moroccan, Arab, and African cinema through artistic and professional mentorship, project presentations to international experts, and co-production meetings.
The programme includes five days of online sessions in October 2026, followed by five in-person days in Marrakech from November 22 to 26, 2026, alongside the Marrakech International Film Festival.
Available Tracks
1. Films in Production or Post-Production
This track is open to a director’s first, second, or third feature-length film, including fiction, documentary, or animated films, with a minimum running time of 60 minutes.
The project must be affiliated with a production company at the time of application. The team must submit either a complete rough cut or selected footage totaling at least 20 minutes.
Application deadline: August 31, 2026, at midnight Morocco time, UTC+1.
2. Atlas Station Programme for Moroccan Producers
This is a professional development programme for Moroccan producers working in the film industry who wish to strengthen their skills, expand their professional networks, and access international markets.
Applicants must have directed or produced at least one short film, and the film must have been screened at a minimum of one film festival.
Application deadline: August 31, 2026.
3. Atlas Station Programme for Moroccan Short Films
This track is intended for Moroccan directors currently working on a short film in the production, shooting, or post-production stage that has not yet premiered.
The programme provides editing and post-production support and helps directors launch their films internationally.
Application deadline: September 14, 2026.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be based in an Arab or African country, or be a member of the Arab or African diaspora.
- The director must have completed at least one short film before applying.
- The submitted film must be the director’s first, second, or third feature-length film.
- The film must have a minimum running time of 60 minutes.
- The film may be a fiction, documentary, or animated feature.
- The project must be affiliated with a production company at the time of application.
- Valid and legally binding production or development agreements must be in place between the director and producer.
- The applicants must hold all legal rights related to the project and the film.
Required Documents
All documents must be combined into a single PDF file in English or French and must include:
- A short or extended film synopsis of no more than 20 lines.
- A film treatment of at least 10 pages or a copy of the screenplay.
- An artistic statement from the director, limited to one page.
- The professional biographies and filmographies of the director and producer.
- A profile of the production company and a list of films it has produced or co-produced.
- A copy of the director’s national ID or passport.
- The city and country of residence of both the director and producer.
- Separate motivation letters from the director and producer.
- A visual and artistic reference document of between two and six pages.
- A link to a complete rough cut or a selection of scenes with a total running time of at least 20 minutes.
- English or French subtitles for the submitted footage when the film is in another language.
- The total production budget and the amount required to complete the film when financing has not yet been secured in full.
