The University of Agder is a public Norwegian university located in the south of the country, with academic roots going back over 190 years, and officially established as a university in 2026. The university focuses on international collaboration and innovation, hosting students and faculty from around the world, and offers many international programs taught in English.

The Academic Esports program is an international bachelor’s degree taught in English at the Grimstad campus, designed to transform video gaming skills into applied capabilities in areas such as sports coaching, health, technology, and professional education. The program covers academic, physiological, and psychological aspects, along with topics like training, recovery, athlete performance, marketing, entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, and game design. In the sixth semester, students choose one of four specializations: Professional Player, Industry and Competitive Environment, Technology and Innovation, or Education and Health.

Application Deadlines:

Application period from 1 November to 1 December:

  • International applicants from the EU/EEA

  • Applicants holding a permanent or renewable residence permit in Norway who do not meet the Norwegian language requirement

Application period from 1 February to 15 April:

  • Citizens of Nordic countries with a high school diploma from a Nordic country who meet the Norwegian language requirements

  • Residents in Norway holding a renewable residence permit who meet the Norwegian language requirement

  • Residents in Norway with a high school diploma from abroad who meet the Norwegian language requirements

  • International applicants from the EU/EEA who meet the Norwegian language requirement
