The Braunschweig University of Art (HBK Braunschweig) in Germany has announced the Braunschweig Projects 2027/2028, an international fellowship and artistic residency programme designed to support artists by providing the time, space, and resources needed to develop and realize new artistic projects within an academic and creative environment.
The programme offers 7 artistic fellowships each year, including 5 fellowships in Visual Arts and 2 fellowships in Sound Art, in addition to a separate Curatorial Fellowship. The support lasts for 12 months, and participants receive a monthly stipend of €1,600, along with project funding, travel support, access to the university’s workshops and laboratories, and mentoring and professional development opportunities.

Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be artists or professional practitioners in the field for which they are applying within the Braunschweig Projects programme.
- Applications are open to international creatives of all nationalities.
- Applicants must choose one of the available tracks, such as Visual Arts, Sound Art, or the Curatorial Fellowship.
- Applicants should have an independent artistic practice and a portfolio of works and projects demonstrating their experience and artistic direction.
- Applicants must submit a clear artistic project or concept that they intend to develop during the fellowship period.
- Applicants must meet the qualifications and experience requirements for the selected track.
- For the Curatorial Fellowship, applicants must have at least 3 years of initial professional experience in curatorial work.
- Applicants must be able to reside in and participate in the programme in Braunschweig, Germany during the fellowship period.
- Participants are expected to comply with the programme requirements and take part in activities and events related to their project and the final exhibition.
