Opportunity description

UNICEF is offering a funded national volunteer assignment for a Donor Visibility and Communications Support Coordinator based on UN premises in Damascus, Syria. The assignment lasts for 12 months with a possibility of extension. This role involves documenting program results, producing multimedia communication materials, and ensuring strict compliance with donor visibility requirements. Please note that there are no application or processing fees for this opportunity. The volunteer will receive a monthly living allowance of USD 735.5, an entry lump sum of USD 350, and danger/hardship differentials as applicable.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support the documentation and communication of UNICEF program results across various sectors.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with donor visibility requirements and preparing visibility materials.

  • Contribute to developing communication materials like human interest stories, social media content, and press materials.

  • Support the production of reports, infographics, presentations, and digital content.

  • Collect and organize photos, videos, and field content in line with consent procedures.

  • Prepare social media posts and assist in monitoring engagement and analytics.

  • Contribute to media monitoring and prepare regular media digests.

  • Coordinate communication inputs from program sections and field offices.

  • Support the organization of communication activities for campaigns, international days, and high-level visits.

  • Ensure all outputs adhere to UNICEF communication guidelines and child safeguarding principles.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in Syria.

  • Age must be between 18 and 80 years old.

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media, Public Relations, International Development, or a related field.

  • Have at least 1 year of professional work experience in communications, public relations, literature, or advocacy.

  • Fluent in both Arabic and English languages.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong drafting and reporting abilities.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing human interest stories and multimedia content.

  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
