Opportunity description

The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation offers a set of cultural financial grants for the year 2023 in Jordan and Palestine, as the Foundation seeks to create a society full of culture and creativity, and from this standpoint, it is keen to support entities and individuals in the cultural, creative and knowledge industries in Jordan and Palestine to implement their projects and achieve their goals. The Foundation is proud of its support for more than 230 entities and individuals since 2014, with a value of approximately 8 million Jordanian dinars, to implement their projects. More than 600,000 people in Jordan, Palestine, and the entire Arab world have benefited from these cultural projects. You can view the detailed guide to this year's cultural scholarships from here. The application for cultural grants for this year will continue from March 12 to May 12, 2023, and then the stages of evaluating the submitted applications will begin, which will last for three months. Then the supported projects will be announced so that the owners can start taking specialized training courses to develop their cultural, creative, and knowledge projects. And then their projects will be implemented.

Benefits

  • The Foundation will support cultural projects with a maximum of 30,000 Jordanian dinars, to implement its activities within a maximum period of 12 months.
  • Grants will be divided into:
  • Literature and arts grants, which aim to raise awareness of the value of artistic culture and creative writing, develop a culture of reading and research, and enrich and disseminate Arabic literary and artistic content on various digital and print platforms, in addition to investing in cultural skills, promoting literary and artistic spaces, and preserving and protecting the national cultural heritage.   • Thought Leadership grants, which aim to support and develop the educational process through capacity-building programs, by providing learning resources for all, creating educational spaces, and investing in various educational and scientific applications, as well as supporting various educational and scientific activities and sectors that meet students’ needs and develop their skills. Eligibility criteria

You must:

  • Carry out your project activities in Jordan or Palestine.
  • Implement your project activities over a maximum of 12 months.
  • The participating project shall be within the scope of support and areas supported by the Foundation.
  • All application requirements, including forms and documents, must be completed before the application deadline.
  • The Foundation will not provide support for two different projects that are being implemented simultaneously by the same entity.
  • The Foundation encourages projects that integrate the Kingdom's governorates into the cultural and knowledge landscape.
  • The Foundation encourages projects that integrate more than one of the support sectors.
  • The Foundation encourages projects that aim to enrich digital content.
  • The Foundation encourages projects that have a clear approach to sustainability and continuity.

About the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation:

The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation was established in 1978 (as a cultural institution), on a non-profit initiative by the Arab Bank, by allocating part of its annual profits for its establishment, and in order to be an arm of cultural and social responsibility, with its reliance on three pillars, which are: “leadership thought, literature and the arts, and cultural grants and innovation. The institution took its name in relation to Abdul Hameed Shoman - founder of the Arab Bank (1888-1974), who believed in the importance of supporting and financing science, sponsoring and encouraging scholars, and nurturing Arab human creativity.
