Opportunity description

Ettijahat – Independent Culture announces the opening of applications for the fourth cycle of the Hayat Program: Contributions to Supporting Syrian Cultural Entities. The program is directed at cultural and artistic institutions, entities, and groups working in Syria, as well as teams and initiatives seeking to develop and organize their work institutionally.

The program aims to support 10 Syrian cultural entities through institutional funding, training, organizational accompaniment, and opportunities for learning and exchange, in a way that strengthens the sustainability of cultural and artistic work in Syria.

Responsibilities

  1. Commit to participating in the program components during the support period.
  2. Use the funding in a way that serves the cultural entity’s priorities and institutional development.
  3. Participate in training and activities related to strategic planning and organizational development.
  4. Work to strengthen the entity’s sustainability and its ability to respond to the needs of the Syrian cultural scene.
  5. Document the use of support and comply with the program’s conditions.
  6. Acknowledge the support of Ettijahat – Independent Culture in the supported cultural and artistic outputs, while the entities retain full rights to their work.

Benefits

  • Institutional funding of up to EUR 10,000 for each cultural entity.
  • The funding may be used to cover salaries, team fees, internal training, workspace costs, equipment, technical systems, and operational services.
  • Up to 20% of the grant may be allocated to cultural activities and programs.
  • Legal support, including the costs of legal consultations and registration or re-registration fees for entities seeking to formalize their institutional status.
  • A training program in strategic planning, organizational development, institutional recovery, team care, and burnout prevention.
  • Opportunities for learning, exchange, and collaboration with cultural entities in the Arab region and with Syrian institutions working abroad.

Eligibility criteria

  • The program is open to independent cultural entities and groups working in the arts and culture sector in Syria.
  • Informal artistic groups or collectives that wish to establish themselves institutionally may apply.
  • The representative of the applying entity must be Syrian or considered as such, and must currently reside in Syria.
  • The entity’s activities and programs must be focused inside Syria or managed from within Syria.
  • Current beneficiaries of Ettijahat grants are not eligible to apply.
  • Previous beneficiaries who completed their grants before the end of 2024 may apply.
