Fields of Study
DAAD EPOS funds selected development-related postgraduate courses, which may include economics, governance, environmental management, engineering, health systems, public policy, agriculture, social sciences, and related fields.
Location & Duration
Study location: Germany
Degrees supported: Master’s (12–24 months) and PhD (up to ~42 months)
Application Timeline & Deadlines
There is no single universal deadline for the EPOS Scholarship — deadlines vary by university and selected course.
However, the official EPOS deadlines list shows:
Some EPOS course applications open around June 1, 2025
Many deadlines run until mid- to late-2025
Important: You must apply directly to the university offering your chosen course before that program’s deadline — not centrally to DAAD. After nomination, DAAD processes the applications.
Benefits
The DAAD EPOS Scholarship is fully funded and typically includes:
Monthly stipend (e.g., ~€992 for Master’s / ~€1,300–€1,400 for PhD*)
Health, accident, and personal liability insurance
Travel allowance (round-trip airfare)
Monthly rent subsidy in some cases
Family and accompanying support where applicable

Eligibility criteria
You can apply if you:
Are from a developing or newly industrialized country (eligibility lists apply)
Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (often four-year degree)
Have at least two years of relevant professional experience after your first degree
Have strong academic performance and a motivation related to development
Meet language proficiency requirements (English and/or German) where needed
