Design Competition for Architecture Students from Tamayouz Excellence Award

Tamayouz is now accepting applications for the Tamayouz International for Graduation Projects Award. Tamayouz invites students of architecture, urban design, urban planning, architecture technology and landscape design worldwide to register and submit their graduation projects. Winners will be selected by an independent, international jury that will review all entries.

Competition Objectives:-

• Tamayouz International Award offers participants the opportunity to network and collaborate with one another through its various events. It is also a platform for knowledge exchange and the sharing of experiences in design and its teaching methods.
• This award recognizes excellence in graduation projects and showcases worldwide examples of architectural work. It also brings together projects from all over the world in one place.
• This award celebrates the achievements of young architects, giving them the confidence to pursue their careers while knowing that they can contribute to the advancements of architecture in their communities.
• By recognizing talent at an early stage in the participants’ career, and by giving them the opportunity to collaborate and support each other, this award empowers a generation of young architects.

• First Prize
• An MSc Scholarship for 2 Years at the University Polytechnic of Milan + Tamayouz Medal + Certificate + An invitation to attend the annual ceremony.
• Second and Third Prizes
• A three-month paid internship with Dewan Architects + Engineers in Dubai + Certificate + An invitation to attend the annual ceremony
• 7 x Honourable Mention
• Certificate + Course Scholarships at Ecodemia.org.uk
• Top 50 and Top 20
• Will feature in Tamayouz’s online publications and pages.
• Supervisor of the Year
• Given to the supervisor of the winning project or the supervisor with most entries supervised in the Top 10 Tamayouz Medal + Certificate.
• University of the Year
• Given to the university of the winning project or the university with the most entries in the Top 10 Tamayouz Medallion.

• You are eligible to participate if all of the following conditions apply:
• You (if participating as an individual) or your team members (if participating as a team) are expected to present your project to your school or graduate between 01/09/2020 and 31/09/2021.
• Participants can submit work only done in their final year of studies, regardless of the project nature, programme, budget and scale (students can submit graduation projects or any other final year design project as long as it was produced in their final year of study).
• If a team/individual would like to submit more than one project, then each submission will need to be registered as a separate entry.
• If you registered in Tamayouz International Award’s previous year, you are not eligible to participate this year, even if you didn’t submit. 
• If you graduated last academic year (01/09/2019 - 01/09/2020) and didn’t participate in the 2020 cycle, you are still eligible to participate.
• Finalists will be asked to provide Proof of their status as a final year student graduating during the specified period.
• The registration cannot be deferred to the following year for any reason. 
• Contacting the jury is prohibited.
• Tamayouz Excellence Award, as the award organiser, reserves the right to modify the award schedule if deemed necessary.

Evaluation Criteria:-

Tamayouz is looking for aspirational and transformative projects that tackle local and global challenges according to the following criteria.

• Relevance: A declaration of conditions that set the contextual parameters of the proposal. Clarity of research process.
• Response: Aspirational, transformative and original projects with a programmatic response to existing environmental, social conditions and local challenges. Clarity of design process. 
• Resolution: A clearly declared architectural/urban intent and design vision. Spatial, material and technical realisation.

Established in 2012, Tamayouz Excellence Award is an unaffiliated, independent initiative that aims to advance the profession of architecture academically and professionally. Tamayouz is dedicated to supporting aspirational and transformative projects that tackle local and global challenges and that are informed by a holistic understanding of context. In 2016, Tamayouz Excellence Award launched the International Award for Graduation Projects. This award invites students of architecture, urban design and planning, landscape design and architecture technology around the world to submit their graduation projects.
