Fire Station: Artist in Residence in Doha, Qatar, has opened applications for the second edition of the Artists Intensive Study Programme (AISP) 2027, a fully funded and intensive international arts programme for emerging visual artists from Qatar and around the world. The programme selects up to approximately 25 artists to take part in a nine-month artistic experience.
The programme aims to help artists develop their technical skills, deepen their artistic ideas and approaches, and expand their creative practices by combining studio work, hands-on training, theoretical study, art criticism, and engagement with international artists, curators, and theorists. The programme is led by Fire Station’s Artistic Director, artist Wael Shawky.
AISP is considered one of the fully funded cultural exchange and artist residency programmes, as international participants receive airfare, accommodation, and a living allowance throughout their nine-month stay in Qatar. There are also no application fees or tuition fees for participation in the programme.

Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Applicants must be emerging visual artists.
- Applications are open to artists from any country worldwide.
- Applicants should have a clear artistic practice and a strong interest in developing and expanding it.
- Applicants must be prepared to engage with creative and intellectual challenges throughout the programme.
- Applicants should be willing to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong motivation to produce and present artistic work by the end of the programme.
- Applicants must be able to reside in Doha for the entire duration of the programme.
- Participants are expected to attend and engage in all AISP activities and events.
- A university degree or formal qualification in art is not required.
- Applicants must have an appropriate level of English proficiency to participate effectively in the programme.
