Macquarie University in Australia is offering a fully-funded three-year Ph.D. Scholarship in Black Holes Research to outstanding students from all over the world.
The research may focus on one of the three directions:
- quantum consequences of such metrics (negative energy, appearance of the Hawking radiation, and the information loss paradox),
- ringdown of perturbations, properties of light (light rings, polarization rotation),
- extension of the approach to more complicated configurations and /or alternative theories of gravity.
Benefits
The scholarship is comprised of a Tuition Fee Offset and a Living Allowance Stipend. The value and tenure of the scholarship is a “MQRES” full-time stipend rate of $28,597 per annum (in 2021 tax-exempt for up to 3 years - indexed annually).
Eligibility criteria
- The minimum requirement for admission to a Ph.D. degree is:
- Completion of a Master of Research (MRes) with a grade of at least a Distinction level (75% or greater in the second year; or
- A Master of Philosophy; or
- A two-year Master’s degree with a major research component at Distinction level (75% or greater).
- Applicants are expected to have a record of excellent academic performance and preferably, additional relevant research experience and/or peer-reviewed research activity in line with the University’s scholarship rating guidelines.
