Successful applicants will receive:
- Monthly scholarship payments of €992 to cover health and accident insurance.
- Travel allowance.
- An annual study allowance of €460.
In some cases, you may apply for the following additional benefits after the start of the funding:
- Monthly rental subsidy.
- Monthly allowance for accompanying family members.
- A subsidy may be provided to cover additional costs incurred abroad that are necessary for the implementation of the project in Germany and not covered by a third party. Whether and to what extent financial support will be paid will be reviewed and determined on an individual basis in cases of disability or chronic illness.
- Reimbursement of the language course fees online, after receiving the scholarship letter.
- Reimbursement of the TestDaF or DSH exam fee, which you can take either in your home country after receiving the scholarship letter or in Germany during the funding period.
- Funding will be provided for a period of 10 months and a maximum of 24 months, depending on the standard study duration of the chosen master's program.
- Please specify the full duration for which you wish to apply for a scholarship in your application. For example, if you are planning a two-year degree program, you must specify two years directly as the scholarship duration required in your application.
- Your academic achievements will be assessed after the first year of study. If this assessment shows that you will successfully complete your program within a reasonable timeframe, the scholarship will continue as planned. The scholarship typically begins on October 1 of the following year, or earlier if you have enrolled in a German language course before the start of your study program.

Eligibility criteria
- This program is aimed at outstanding students from developing and emerging countries who wish to complete a Master's degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at a German university.
- You are eligible to apply for this opportunity if you have completed your studies with a first university degree recognized in Germany (such as a Bachelor's degree) before the application deadline.
- Holders of a Master's degree are not eligible to apply.
- Only applications completed with all required documents will be considered.
- Incomplete applications will be excluded.
- Applicants will be selected based on the submitted documents.
- Pre-selected applicants will be invited to a (digital) interview with an independent selection committee of university professors.
- The personal interview is a crucial element in assessing the credibility of the application and the individual qualities of the applicants and in evaluating them appropriately.

- Knowledge of the language(s) of instruction or working language(s)
- Internships and relevant work experience, if applicable.
- Quality of the study project and preparation (initial information, choice of degree program, host university, and networking)

- Motivation: Academic and personal reasons for residing in Germany, and German language skills (if different from the working language).
- Prospects: The importance of residing in Germany for further academic, professional, and personal development.
- Extracurricular commitments: Extracurricular knowledge and skills, and social commitment.

- Your university degree must have been obtained no more than 6 years ago by the application deadline.
- You must meet the legal and professional requirements for admission to a master's program in Germany. Please note that master's programs at German universities are usually consecutive, meaning that the master's program builds on the bachelor's program.
- Your application will not be considered if you have been resident in Germany for more than 15 months by the application deadline.
- You must demonstrate above-average academic performance.
- You must provide proof of your current proficiency in the language of instruction (German, English, or German and English) in your chosen study program. You must have already reached at least level B1.
- Application deadlines are updated annually in the second quarter of the year. In most cases, the deadlines are the same as the previous year.
- Interdisciplinary study programs must focus on the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
