Central South University (CSU) in Changsha, China, offers a funded opportunity under the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship through its One-Semester Study Program. The program is part of China’s cultural exchange and short-term educational residency opportunities, allowing participants to combine academic study with direct immersion in Chinese language and culture.
The program begins in March 2027 and lasts for up to 5 months. It is designed for young people, students, and other applicants interested in a short-term international experience that helps them improve their Chinese language skills, gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and society, and experience university life at one of China’s major universities.
The program focuses on Chinese Language Study and offers an experience similar to a cultural exchange program. Participants study in a Chinese academic environment, interact with both international and local students, use the language in daily life, and gain direct exposure to Chinese traditions and culture through living and studying in China.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be non-Chinese citizens.
- Be in good physical and mental health.
- Have no criminal record.
- Have a good academic and conduct record.
- Be interested in the Chinese language, Chinese language education, or related fields.
- Be between 16 and 35 years old as of September 1, 2026.
- The maximum age may be extended to 45 years for currently employed Chinese language teachers.
- Hold HSK Level 3 with a minimum score of 180.
- Submit an HSKK score.
- In principle, not have received a similar scholarship within the previous three years.

- A copy of the passport information page, with the passport valid for more than one year.
- A valid HSK certificate.

- The Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
- The applicant’s highest academic qualification certificate.
- Academic transcripts for the highest qualification obtained.
- A certificate of no criminal record.

- Proof of employment and a recommendation letter from the employer if the applicant is currently working as a Chinese language teacher.
