Liaoning University in China offers a distinctive opportunity within its cultural exchange and short-term educational residency programs through the One-Semester Study Program, a funded program lasting up to 5 months and beginning in March 2027.
The program gives participants the opportunity to live in China and immerse themselves directly in Chinese language and culture within an international university environment, while undertaking structured academic study in fields related to Chinese language, literature, culture, and education.
The program is well suited to international students and young people who want a short-term experience in China combining study, cultural exchange, exposure to Chinese society, and language development, without committing to a full bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
Participants may choose one of the following study tracks:
- International Chinese Language Education.
- Chinese Language and Literature.
- Chinese Philosophy.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be non-Chinese citizens.
- Be in good physical and mental health.
- Have no criminal record.
- Comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the university.
- Have a good academic and conduct record.
- Demonstrate a clear interest in Chinese language, Chinese culture, or Chinese language education.
- Generally be between 16 and 35 years old.
- The maximum age may be extended to 45 years for currently employed Chinese language teachers.
- Meet the Chinese language requirements for the one-semester program.
- Hold HSK Level 3 with a minimum score of 180.
- Submit an HSKK score.
- Applicants are not required to be currently enrolled as university students under the general published requirements for this track.
- Membership in any specific association or organization is not required.
- The program is open to international applicants, so citizens of Arab countries may apply if they meet the remaining eligibility requirements.
