Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) in Shanghai, China, offers a One-Semester Program under the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. It is one of the short-term funded cultural exchange programs that combines Chinese language study, cultural exchange, and an educational stay in China.
The program begins in March 2027 and lasts for 5 months, giving participants the opportunity to improve their Chinese language skills in an international university environment, interact with local and international students, and gain direct exposure to the culture, society, and everyday life of Shanghai.
The available one-semester track focuses on Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), making the program suitable for young people, students, and others interested in Chinese language and culture who want a short-term cultural and educational exchange experience without enrolling in a full university degree.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be non-Chinese citizens.
- Be in good physical and mental health.
- Have a good academic and conduct record.
- Have no criminal record.
- Be interested in the Chinese language, Chinese language education, or related fields.
- Be between 16 and 35 years old as of September 1, 2026.
- The maximum age may be extended to 45 years for currently employed Chinese language teachers.
- Hold HSK Level 3 with a minimum score of 270.
- Submit an HSKK score.
- Applicants who have received a similar scholarship within the previous three years are generally not eligible.
