A. Lipniuno kulturos centras in Panevėžys, Lithuania, is offering a long-term individual volunteering opportunity under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) for young people interested in community service and gaining international experience in youth work, childcare, or elderly care.

Volunteers can choose the field that best matches their interests, experience, and motivation. Three main placements are available: a youth centre, an elderly care home, or a kindergarten. Previous professional experience is not required, as the host organization focuses primarily on motivation to learn, openness, responsibility, and willingness to participate actively in the local community.

The opportunity takes place in Panevėžys, Lithuania. Volunteers live together with other international volunteers, with each participant provided a private room while sharing the kitchen, bathroom, and other common facilities.

Volunteering Benefits and Funding

As the opportunity is part of the European Solidarity Corps, the program covers the main costs associated with participation, including:

Volunteering Fields

Volunteers can choose from three main placements:

3. Kindergarten

Tasks may include:

  • Supporting children and staff in daily activities.

  • Introducing children to the volunteer’s culture, traditions, and ideas

Duties & responsibilities

Responsibilities vary depending on the placement selected by the volunteer and may include:

  • Helping organize activities, workshops, games, and events for young people.
  • Spending time with young people, supporting them, and contributing new creative ideas and initiatives.
  • Assisting elderly people with daily social and recreational activities.
  • Organizing creative and interactive activities for elderly residents, accompanying them, and helping create a supportive social environment.
  • Supporting children and kindergarten staff with everyday activities.
  • Participating in games, creative workshops, outdoor activities, and celebrations for children.
  • Sharing the volunteer’s culture, ideas, and skills with the local community.
  • Taking an active role in the host organization’s daily activities.
  • Cooperating with staff and other international volunteers in a multicultural team.
  • Learning the basics of the Lithuanian language and communicating in English throughout the project.
  • Suggesting new ideas and helping develop activities based on the volunteer’s interests and skills

Eligibility criteria

The host organization is looking for volunteers who:

  • Are interested in working with young people, children, or elderly people.
  • Are motivated to learn and gain new practical experience.
  • Are open to living in an international environment.
  • Are comfortable sharing accommodation with other volunteers while having a private room.
  • Are patient, respectful, and friendly.
  • Are able to communicate and interact with people from different backgrounds.
  • Are willing to participate actively in the host organization’s daily activities.
  • Are ready to share their ideas, culture, skills, and creativity.
  • Are flexible and able to adapt to a new country, culture, and environment.
  • Are willing to learn the basics of the Lithuanian language.
  • Are able to communicate in English.
  • Are prepared to commit to a long-term volunteering period according to the project arrangements
