The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) has opened applications for the International Outreach Travel Grant, a travel grant designed for trainees and early- or mid-career researchers to attend the 2027 IARS and SOCCA Annual Meeting in Chicago, United States.

The grant aims to support researchers residing in low- and middle-income countries and enable them to present their work to an international community specializing in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. The funding amount varies according to the economic classification of the applicant’s country of residence:

  • Applicants residing in lower-middle-income countries may receive funding of up to USD 3,000.
  • Applicants residing in upper-middle-income countries may receive funding of up to USD 1,000.
  • Complimentary registration for the IARS and SOCCA Annual Meeting.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current member of the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS).
  • Currently reside in a low- or middle-income country according to the classification adopted by the program.
  • Be a trainee or an early- or mid-career researcher.
  • Pursue a career that includes scientific research.
  • Conduct research related to anesthesiology or perioperative medicine.
  • Be directly or collaboratively affiliated with a department of anesthesiology.
  • Submit a separate research abstract to the annual meeting before the specified deadline.
  • Submit only one grant application.
  • Have not previously received this grant.
