The Plant and Animal Genome Conference (PAG) has opened applications for a range of funded travel grants designed to help graduate students and international researchers attend the PAG 34 Conference in San Diego, California, United States.

The conference will take place from January 8 to 12, 2027, bringing together more than 3,000 researchers and professionals specializing in plant and animal genomics, genetics, biotechnology, bioinformatics, agricultural sciences, and veterinary sciences. Applicants are required to register for the conference and submit an abstract for either a research poster or a presentation within one of the conference workshops.

Different grants are available depending on the applicant’s career stage. These include awards of USD 750 for international graduate students and grants of up to USD 2,000 for professional genomics researchers, in addition to complimentary conference registration.   • Graham Moore Travel Grant Award
  • Thomas Blake Travel Grant Award
  • Max Rothschild Travel Grant Award for animal research
  • Hans Cheng Travel Grant Award for animal research

Each grant provides USD 2,000, in addition to complimentary conference registration.

Eligibility criteria

Student Grant Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled as graduate students.
  • Reside outside the United States.
  • Not currently study or work in a laboratory located in the United States.
  • Register for the conference.
  • Submit an abstract for a research poster or a workshop presentation.
  • Provide an official letter from the department chair or academic supervisor confirming their student status and participation in the conference.
  • Not have previously received this grant.

Postdoctoral researchers are not eligible for this grant.

Researcher Grant Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be professional researchers rather than students.
  • Reside outside the United States.
  • Conduct research in plant or animal genomics, depending on the selected grant.
  • Be attending the PAG Conference for the first time.
  • Register for the conference.
  • Submit an abstract for a research poster or a presentation within a workshop.
