Mitacs in Canada has opened applications for the Globalink Research Internship 2027, a 12-week funded international research internship that gives eligible undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct hands-on research at Canadian universities and academic institutions under the supervision of specialized professors and researchers.
The internship takes place between May and October 2027. Selected students participate in research projects across a wide range of fields, including science, engineering, technology, mathematics, social sciences, and humanities, depending on the available disciplines and the eligibility requirements for the applicant’s country.
The programme combines academic research experience, international exposure, and professional development. Interns spend 12 consecutive weeks conducting research at a Canadian academic institution and may also have access to professional development activities, skills training, and research and industry events.

Eligibility criteria
In general, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application, while also meeting any additional age requirements specific to their country.
- Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate programme or a combined Bachelor’s/Master’s programme at an eligible institution.
- Have completed at least two years of university study, or have reached the required year of study according to their country’s eligibility criteria.
- Have the required number of academic semesters remaining before graduation, according to the rules of their country and international partner.
- Meet the minimum academic GPA requirement for the country from which they are applying.
- Have sufficient proficiency in the language of the research project, whether English or French.
- Be available to complete a 12-consecutive-week internship.
- Begin the internship between May 1 and July 31, 2027, while completing the full 12 weeks within the permitted programme period.
- Not have previously been awarded a project through the Globalink Research Internship programme.
