UN Women is accepting applications for a funded national volunteer opportunity for the position of Programme Assistant at its office in Rabat, Morocco. The assignment will last approximately 6 months, from September 15, 2026 to March 31, 2027, and will be full-time and based at the United Nations office.
The opportunity is part of UN Women Morocco’s programme supporting gender equality and women’s empowerment, specifically the Support to Gender Equality in Morocco programme funded by the French Development Agency. The programme focuses on strengthening gender-responsive budgeting, supporting the care economy, and improving access to quality services for older persons.
This is one of the funded United Nations volunteering opportunities suitable for individuals with experience in programme management, international relations, development, political science, and economics. The volunteer will contribute to activity planning and monitoring, reporting, budgeting, and coordination with partners.

This is a funded UN volunteer opportunity, and the benefits include:

- An initial payment of USD 350 before the start of the assignment.

Duties & responsibilities
The volunteer’s responsibilities include:
- Supporting the planning, organization, and monitoring of activities and programmes.
- Assisting in the preparation of work plans, budgets, and project proposals.
- Monitoring programme results and collecting related data and information.
- Supporting coordination with institutions, civil society organizations, and the United Nations system.
- Assisting in organizing high-level meetings, consultations, and national and regional events.
- Collecting and analyzing information to prepare documents, guidance materials, speeches, and position papers.
- Coordinating the administrative, logistical, and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, events, and missions.
- Preparing and updating activity tracking sheets, financial data, and basic monitoring dashboards.
- Contributing to the preparation of periodic and financial reports.
- Creating projects, updating budgets, and monitoring data using the Quantum system.
- Assisting in documenting results, lessons learned, and good practices.
- Preparing meeting minutes and following up on agreed actions.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 60 years old.
- Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Be a Moroccan citizen, a legal resident of Morocco, or hold refugee status in Morocco.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, or an equivalent field.
- Be fluent in French.
- Working knowledge of English is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset.
- Have experience in programme development and management.
- Have strong writing, drafting, and report preparation skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
- Be able to work effectively in multicultural teams and engage with different stakeholders and partners.
- Be able to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
