The United Nations System in Tunisia is offering a funded volunteering opportunity for a Digital Communication Assistant, suitable for young people interested in digital communication, content creation, design, social media, and artificial intelligence.
The volunteer will contribute to developing the United Nations’ digital content in Tunisia, including designing social media posts and infographics, producing short videos and Reels, writing articles and human-interest stories, photographing and covering events, and monitoring social media performance and content analytics.
A key feature of this opportunity is the chance to use artificial intelligence tools in a practical and responsible way to generate ideas, write and improve content, support translation, enhance visual elements, and develop new digital formats capable of reaching young audiences and increasing engagement with United Nations messages. This work must be carried out while maintaining accuracy, ethical standards, fact-checking, and non-discrimination.
The volunteering assignment lasts for 12 months on a full-time basis at the United Nations office in Tunis, offering practical experience that combines digital media, artificial intelligence, design, and content creation within an international and multicultural work environment.
Benefits
The financial benefits and services provided to the volunteer include:
- A monthly living allowance of TND 1,879.74 to help cover accommodation and basic living expenses.
- A one-time entry allowance of USD 350.
- A USD 175 travel allowance at the beginning and end of the assignment if the duty station is outside the normal commuting distance, subject to UNV assessment.
- Health, life, and disability insurance, with possible health coverage for up to three eligible dependents.
- 2.5 days of annual leave for each month of service.
- Access to UNV training, learning, and professional development resources.
- An end-of-service allowance of USD 120 for each month of service, paid upon satisfactory completion of the assignment.
- Coverage of relocation costs to the duty station in eligible cases.
- Assignment duration: 12 months.
Duties & responsibilities
The volunteer’s responsibilities include:
- Supporting the implementation of the United Nations’ digital communication strategy in Tunisia.
- Planning content for the website and social media platforms.
- Designing digital content such as Reels, short videos, stories, carousels, infographics, and social media posts.
- Writing articles, news stories, human-interest stories, testimonials, and social media copy.
- Photographing and filming United Nations events, activities, and official visits.
- Collecting testimonials and preparing concise content for internal and external communication.
- Contributing to awareness campaigns and events, particularly those targeting young people.
- Designing banners, presentations, reports, and printed and digital communication materials.
- Monitoring the performance of digital platforms and analyzing social media trends.
- Organizing and archiving photographs, videos, and produced content.
- Using artificial intelligence tools responsibly and ethically for ideation, writing, translation, and content enhancement.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 60 years old.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Communication.
- Digital Communication.
- Design and Multimedia.
- Digital Marketing.
- Audiovisual Production.
- Be proficient in Arabic and French, while working knowledge of English is considered an advantage.
- Have experience in areas such as social media management, design, graphic design, or video editing.
- Have good photography and videography skills.
- Be familiar with tools such as Photoshop, Canva, CapCut, and Illustrator.
- Be able to create engaging digital content, particularly for young audiences.
- Have a portfolio showcasing previous multimedia content work.
- Have good knowledge of artificial intelligence tools.
- Be able to analyze digital platform performance and prepare monitoring reports.
- Previous experience in media, communication agencies, civil society organizations, or NGOs is considered an advantage.
