Opportunity description

Záhrada Cultural Center in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, announces a one-year individual volunteering opportunity under the European Solidarity Corps program. The opportunity is aimed at young people interested in arts, culture, youth work, event organization, and creative production.

This opportunity allows the participant to gain practical experience inside an active cultural center by contributing to daily operations, supporting event organization, participating in artistic and technical production, assisting with marketing and social media communication, producing content, photography, writing articles, and preparing interviews. The volunteer may also take part in activities related to caring for outdoor spaces such as the center’s garden and park.

Training During the Activity

The participant will receive training and educational support according to their needs and goals, including:

  1. Pre-departure training.
  2. On-arrival training to learn about the organization and the local community.
  3. Language course.
  4. Mentoring program.
  5. Daily support from the host organization.
  6. Optional workshops in fields such as photography, sound, and lighting design.

Benefits

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support the daily operations and internal tasks of the cultural center.
  • Assist in organizing and managing cultural and community events.
  • Participate in the artistic or technical production of events.
  • Help with marketing and promoting content and activities.
  • Manage or support social media content.
  • Contribute to graphic design, website updates, and ticketing.
  • Document activities through photography and video.
  • Write short articles or blogs and conduct interviews.
  • Support the production of cultural and community events.
  • Help take care of the garden and outdoor spaces when needed.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The applicant must be a curious, open-minded, flexible, responsible young person who enjoys new experiences.
  2. The applicant must have an interest in arts, culture, and youth work.
  3. The applicant must be willing to learn and participate in a cultural and community environment.
  4. Interest in creative production, promotion, event organization, or technical support is important.
  5. The applicant must be able to work within a team and contribute to the center’s daily activities.
  6. The applicant must be ready to take part in various tasks, including organization, media, documentation, or maintaining outdoor spaces.
  7. No specific professional experience is required, but interest in the cultural and creative field is important.
