John Allwright offers a Fellowship for Scientists to obtain Australian postgraduate qualifications by the Australian Government. The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) provides scientists from partner countries currently or recently involved in ACIAR research projects with the opportunity to obtain postgraduate qualifications at Australian tertiary institutions. While individuals will benefit from the scheme, the primary aim of the fellowship is to enhance research capacity in ACIAR partner country institutions. The JAF is the largest initiative in the ACIAR Capacity Building Program in financial terms. It provides Ph.D. and Master's scholarships to agricultural researchers, administered through the Australia Awards system.

Eligibility criteria
- For the 2023 intake, the Training Committee will select up to 12 recipients, with at least 6 fellowships awarded to women in line with ACIAR’s Gender Equity Policy.
- The 2023 intake will also be enrolled in ACIAR’s ‘John Allwright Fellowship Executive Leadership Program’ (JAFel).
- Applications close on 31 May 2022 at 5.00 PM AEDT.
- All applications are to be made through the OASIS portal.
