The Sawiris Foundation for Social Development offers one of the distinguished master’s scholarships for Egyptian students through the Yousriya Loza-Sawiris Scholarship (YLSS), which gives recipients the opportunity to pursue the Master of Development Practice (MDP) at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, USA.
The scholarship is part of initiatives that support master’s study abroad and aims to prepare Egyptian professionals who can contribute to addressing complex development challenges such as poverty, health, climate change, human rights, resource management, and sustainable development through an academic and practical program that combines theoretical study with hands-on experience in the field of development.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
Be Egyptian citizens and residents of Egypt.
Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a reputable academic institution.
Meet the admission requirements for the MDP program at the University of Minnesota.
Have a strong academic and professional record.
Demonstrate personal and leadership skills through activities, community engagement, or initiatives.
Demonstrate financial need and an inability to fund the program from personal resources.
Have at least two years of experience in the development field.
Commit to working in the development sector in Egypt for at least two consecutive years after graduation.
