Opportunity description
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has opened applications for a 12-week online volunteering opportunity to support its digital communication and media campaigns, with a commitment of 16 to 20 hours per week.
The opportunity is designed for content creators, designers, writers, video editors, and individuals interested in digital marketing. Volunteers will produce creative content to support UNFPA campaigns related to reproductive health, gender equality, youth empowerment, and humanitarian response.
The program gives participants the chance to work remotely with a United Nations agency, gain practical experience in digital content production, and strengthen their professional portfolios by contributing to awareness campaigns targeting diverse communities across the region.
Volunteer Areas
Volunteers will be assigned to one of four teams:
1. Social Media Content Creation — One Volunteer
- Prepare 5 to 10 social media posts.
- Write captions and suggest visual concepts.
- Create five designs using Canva or similar tools.
- Adapt existing UNFPA materials into content suitable for digital platforms.
2. Short-Form Video Production — One Volunteer
- Produce two to three short videos of up to 60 seconds each.
- Edit video content.
- Add subtitles.
- Develop visual stories suitable for social media platforms.
3. Storytelling and Digital Content Writing — Two Volunteers
- Write two to three human-interest stories, articles, or website content pieces.
- Edit content in accordance with UNFPA communication standards.
- Produce content in English and/or Arabic.
4. Campaign and Event Support — One Volunteer
- Share at least 10 UNFPA campaign materials through personal social media accounts.
- Prepare a report on content reach and engagement following the events.

Duties & responsibilities
The volunteers will be responsible for:
- Preparing 5 to 10 social media posts, including written copy and visual concepts.
- Designing five visual materials using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
- Adapting existing UNFPA materials into content suitable for digital platforms.
- Producing two to three short videos, each no longer than 60 seconds.
- Editing videos and adding subtitles and formatting appropriate for social media platforms.
- Writing two to three human-interest stories, articles, or website content pieces in Arabic and/or English.
- Reviewing and formatting content in accordance with UNFPA’s communication and branding guidelines.
- Supporting digital campaigns and events by sharing at least 10 communication materials through social media.
- Monitoring the reach and engagement of published content and preparing a summary of the results.
- Coordinating with UNFPA communication officers and meeting the deadlines and requirements specified for each assignment.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Have experience creating digital content for social media platforms.
- Be proficient in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, or similar tools.
- Have a working proficiency in both Arabic and English.
- Possess strong communication, creativity, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of United Nations communication standards is considered an advantage but is not required.
