Opportunity description
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering a 12-week online volunteer opportunity to support the RBEC Regional Economic Analysis Team in producing economic and statistical analysis that contributes to policy development related to inclusive green growth, the Sustainable Development Goals, regional cooperation, reconstruction and recovery, and resilience building.
The volunteer will work directly with the Senior Regional Economist and other specialized team members. Responsibilities will include collecting and cleaning economic data, conducting statistical and econometric analysis, and preparing research notes, charts, dashboards, and presentations used in UNDP analytical reports and products.

Duties & responsibilities
- Collect economic and statistical data from sources such as:
- The United Nations.
- World Development Indicators.
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF).
- The World Bank.
- Clean, organize, and prepare data for analysis.
- Conduct statistical analyses and cross-country and time-series comparisons of indicators.
- Develop indicators related to topics such as:
- Conflict.
- Public finance.
- Competitiveness.
- Apply basic econometric models.
- Conduct literature reviews and research related to inclusive green growth.
- Prepare research notes, policy briefs, and background papers.
- Contribute to analytical products such as Regional Human Development Reports.
- Prepare charts, dashboards, and presentations.
- Translate research findings into recommendations and analysis that can be used in policy discussions and decision-making.
- Participate in meetings, knowledge-sharing activities, and joint research initiatives with UNDP offices.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants should have:
- An academic background in one of the following fields:
- Economics.
- Applied Economics.
- Development Economics.
- Statistics.
- Public Policy.
- Or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following software tools is considered an advantage:
- STATA
- R
- Python
- Matlab
- E-Views
- Experience working with large datasets, economic modelling, and data visualization is considered an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of Russian, Turkish, or another language from the RBEC region is considered an additional advantage.
