Opportunity description

The World Health Organization (WHO) announces a fully online volunteering opportunity to support regional data analysis in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, as part of its efforts to monitor progress in implementing action plans on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

This opportunity aims to support the specialized team in extracting data submitted by countries through the TrACSS platform, cleaning, organizing, and analyzing it, then converting it into tables, charts, short reports, and dashboards that help explain key trends and findings.

This opportunity allows volunteers to use their data analysis skills in the field of public health and collaborate with WHO experts on an important global health issue. It also provides participants with practical experience in working with real data and preparing analytical outputs that support decision-making and capacity building in health data systems.

Duties & responsibilities

  1. Extract data from PDF files submitted by countries through the TrACSS platform.
  2. Clean and organize data related to the selected indicators.
  3. Prepare organized databases in Excel format.
  4. Produce tables, analyses, and charts that present the results.
  5. Summarize the key findings in short reports.
  6. Compare the data with previous years’ data for the same variables.
  7. Create a dashboard to display the data and trends.
  8. Document the workflow steps and the methodology used in the analysis.
  9. Support capacity building and the future use of data and analyses.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The applicant must have experience or a background in one of the following fields:
    1. Public Health.
    2. Microbiology.
    3. Epidemiology.
    4. Nursing.
    5. Veterinary Medicine.
    6. Engineering.
    7. Medicine.
    8. Allied Health Sciences.
    9. Data Science.
  2. The applicant must have skills in data cleaning, data analysis, and data visualization.
  3. The applicant must be able to use and apply one statistical software or package to health data.
  4. Fluency in English is required.
  5. Working knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
  6. The applicant must have an interest in health data analysis and public health issues.
  7. The applicant must be able to prepare short and clear reports based on data.
