The Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO) has opened applications for travel grants designed to support students, trainees, and early-career researchers attending the 50th Annual ARO MidWinter Meeting 2027.
The conference will take place in San Francisco, California, United States, from February 5 to 10, 2027. It is considered one of the leading international scientific conferences specializing in hearing, balance, ear sciences, and the vestibular system.
Award recipients residing outside the United States and Canada will receive a USD 750 travel grant, while recipients residing in the United States and Canada will receive USD 500. The highest-rated application in each main category will also receive the Don Henderson Travel Award, valued at USD 1,500.

Eligibility criteria
General Eligibility Requirements
All applicants must:
- Be current members of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO) both at the time of application and during the conference.
- Submit a research abstract as the first author.
- Attend the conference in person to receive the grant.
- Apply under the correct academic or professional category.
- Not have previously received a travel grant in the same category.
- Applicants may later receive a grant in a different category, but not in two consecutive years. At least one year must pass between awards.
Eligible Categories
Audiologists
Applications are open to:
- Full-time graduate students in audiology.
- Postdoctoral researchers in audiology.
- Individuals conducting research related to ARO’s areas of interest.
Medical Residents and Medical Students
Applications are open to:
- Residents in otolaryngology.
- Medical students.
This category does not include postdoctoral clinical or research fellows.
Undergraduate, Post-Baccalaureate, and Graduate Students
This category includes:
- Full-time undergraduate students.
- Bachelor’s degree holders enrolled in a formal research training program in preparation for graduate study, for up to three years after graduation.
- Full-time master’s and doctoral students.
The research must be related to ARO’s areas of interest.
Postdoctoral Researchers
Applicants must:
- Be postdoctoral researchers.
- Conduct research related to ARO’s areas of interest.
- Not hold a faculty position on a research or tenure track.
