Opportunity description
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering a volunteer opportunity as a Programme Management Specialist based in Kiribati. The volunteer will support programme implementation, focusing on strengthening risk and compliance management, enhancing oversight of the country portfolio, and promoting integrated approaches such as Risk-Informed Development and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion. Please note: The volunteer is responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials, and living conditions in Tarawa are characterized by limited infrastructure.
Duties & responsibilities
Support risk and compliance management for risk-informed programmatic and operational implementation.
Monitor and report on agreed results.
Provide support in risk assessments and the design of risk mitigation actions.
Support the integration of Risk-Informed Development and social inclusion approaches.
Assist in strategic planning and oversight of the portfolio of programmes to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
Maintain regular communication with local and international counterparties.
Provide training and capacity building for government systems and assurance frameworks.
Eligibility criteria
Must be a national of a country other than Kiribati.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in portfolio, programme, or project management.
Master's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, International Development, or a related field (or a Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience).
Fluent in English.
Certification in project management or accounting is a distinct advantage.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must be between 18 and 80 years of age.
